QUETTA: Former finance adviser to Balochistan Chief Minister Khalid Langove, has been arrested by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on May 25, after court rejected his appeal for bail.
Khalid was arrested from Balochistan High Court (BHC) while he was there to submit an appeal for his bail. NAB has shifted him to the regional headquarters to continue the process of investigation in high security. His appeal was rejected by Justice Jamal Mandokhail and Justice Hashim Kakar of BHC.Attorney of Khalid, Baz Muhammad Kakar made an appearance to plead the innocence of his client. Khalid did not show up for the case of mega corruption despite the prior notice by NAB.
More than Rs 730 million have been recovered by NAB from the residence of Balochistan’s Finance Secretary Mushtaq Ahmed Raisani. He was arrested along with the recovery of money, soon after which Khalid resigned from his post.
Khalid said that he had resigned because his department was facing such grave allegations of corruption and foul play, which do not morally allow him to stay in his post. Khalid belongs to one of the ruling coalition partners, National Party (NP), and was elected as member of the Balochistan Assembly from Kalat district. He was given the slot of adviser of finance to the chief minister by Dr. Malik Baloch led Balochistan government.
